A View from the Bridge
William Edwards Deming, probably best known for his quality methodologies made famous by the Japanese auto industry said, "Profit in business comes from repeat customers, customers that boast about your project or service, and that bring friends with them." Looking forward to the year ahead, those words sum up my view of our success at Enterprise Informatics. In 2007, many of our customers significantly expanded their investment in eB. In addition, we added great new customers who found us largely via referral from existing clients. Our outlook for 2008 predicts a continuation of that trend. Thanks to all of you who have selected Enterprise Informatics as a vendor and continue to give us your business.

It is because of this solid foundation of satisfied customers that the company recently attracted a new major investor. ERP2 Holdings is a US based investment firm with several large backers that purchased the holding of the company's previous majority shareholder Spescom Ltd. of South Africa. The transaction is a win-win - it allows Spescom to narrow their focus and investments on the growing opportunities in the South African market, and ERP2 Holdings gets to participate in the rapidly growing Enterprise Information Management market.

The impact on the operation of Enterprise Informatics is one of confidence and affirmation of our strategy and direction. It is invigorating to know that we have an actively interested investor with the resources and means to assist the company in growth opportunities. It is also feels good to have an outside entity validate the value of what we have been working on. Expect to see Enterprise Informatics continue to deliver innovative information management solutions that help organizations be more efficient while meeting compliance requirements - all in the most cost effective manner possible.

We welcome your comments and suggestions. Please email them to ibridges@enterpriseinformatics.com

Accurate and relevant information is at the heart of our business.

Sincerely,
Alan Kiraly
CEO, Enterprise Informatics

Industry Perspective
eB takes advantages of key Microsoft Server 2008 features
As a Gold Certified and Managed partner of Microsoft, Enterprise Informatics is proud to be part of the Launch Wave program for Windows Server 2008. Our eB product will be logo certified for 2008 when it is released, allowing our early adopter customers to make full use of the new features of this long awaited server release from Microsoft.

Window Server 2008 makes is easier to administer the system and provides enhanced scalability and reliability. eB will take full advantage of the advanced the security, Internet information services and server administration features among other things.

From a security perspective, Windows Server 2008 is the most secure Windows Server yet. The operating system has been hardened to protect against failure and several new technologies help prevent unauthorized connections to networks, servers, data, and user accounts. Network Access Protection (NAP) helps ensure that computers that try to connect to your network comply with your organization's security policy.

Windows Server 2008 comes with Internet Information Services 7.0 (IIS7), a Web server and security-enhanced, easy-to-manage platform for reliably hosting Web applications and services. Internet Information Server IIS7 together with eB, which is built on .NET Framework 3.0, provides a comprehensive platform that connects users and data, enabling them to visualize, share, and act on information.

Windows Server 2008 provides a solid foundation for all of your server workload and application requirements while being easy to deploy and manage. The all-new Server Manager provides a unified management console that simplifies and streamlines server setup, configuration, and ongoing management. Windows Deployment Services provides a simplified, secure means of rapidly deploying the operating system via network-based installations. And Windows Server 2008 Failover Clustering wizards, and full IPv6 support plus consolidated management of Network Load Balancing, make high availability easy to implement even by IT generalists.

We are confident you will be impressed with the new capabilities provided by Windows Server 2008 and the resulting enhanced features of eB.

For more information on Windows Server 2008 join us at the Los Angeles Launch Wave event on February 27th or simply drop by www.microsoft.com.

Customer Survey
Document/Records Management challenges/trends for City government
Enterprise Informatics ran a survey targeting city government employees to determine trends and issues in document/records management. The vast majority of survey responses (65%) were from employee working in IT department. A few interesting facts from the survey include:

  • Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Server and Office 2003 by far out-paced other platforms
  • 88% of survey respondents have deployed Infor Public Service (formally Hansen) to support inter-department functions. Top modules identified include:
    • 71% Asset Management
    • 42% GIS solution
    • 37% Customer Relationship Management
    • 37% Permitting
  • 92% of respondents said they collaborated on documents across department
  • There was no clear winner on collaboration tools – the range of answer included:
    • Nothing in place
    • SharePoint
    • Shared folders
    • e-mail
  • 90% said they had to “publish” documents to/across departments – Word documents, inter-department forms, financial data and CAD drawing.
  • 60% said they had no way to automate the workflow for review and approval of documents
  • To our surprise, 60% of respondents said they did not have a “records management” solution in place.
  • Finally 53% of respondents said they were either un-satisfied or looking for a better document/records management solution
Bottom line is that document/records management and workflow automation has yet to be fully exploited by city government departments to support their collaboration and inter-departmental publishing needs.

Product Profile
eB Corrective Action streamlines the management of non-conformances and reduces risk
In this issue we are featuring the Corrective Action module for eB Nuclear.

eB Corrective Action automates and streamlines the lifecycle management of all non-conformances and incidents, including condition reports, observations, customer complaints, defects, and audit findings.

eB Corrective Action provides a closed-loop process that assures all failures and non-conformances are reported and analyzed, and that the appropriate corrective actions are identified, documented, and implemented. This process rectifies non-conformances immediately and prevents recurrences.

All employees are permitted to record non-conformances and bring them to the attention of their supervisors and management. This significantly contributes to quality improvement initiatives, ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate policies, and reduces enterprise risk.

Unlike stand-alone corrective action tools, eB associates non-conformances with related equipment, systems, structures, components, processes, documents, and people. This ability to manage non-conformances "in context" aids in analyzing problems quickly and making informed decisions about corrective actions.

The ability to accurately capture all relevant incident data is critical to the effective management of non-conformances. eB Corrective Action includes pre-defined form layouts specially configured for the nuclear industry and offers easy-to-use form design tools to build customized forms.

eB Corrective Action includes a powerful workflow engine to ensure the appropriate routing of all non-conformances and corrective actions. Workflow templates can be set up with conditional branching and e-mail notification. The system tracks the status of all incidents to provide full visibility on the progress of any incident at any point in time.

Screening and expert analysis of all non-conformances is essential to defining appropriate corrective and preventative actions. eB Corrective Action provides the ability to correlate incidents to objects, including items, systems, structures, components, documents, processes and organizations ensuring that the impact of an incident and all subsequent actions are fully visible and understood. This knowledge is the corner stone to accurate and timely decision-making, and to implementing precise corrective and preventative actions.

Finally, eB Corrective Action provides a wide range of pre-defined reports, including- progress and status reports on all incidents and corrective actions with full drill down capabilities, and statistical analysis reports that providing trending data for preventive action criteria.

eB Corrective Action is used by leading Nuclear organizations including Constellation Energy and CH2M Hill.
